Standard warehousing involves storing products for a period of time (days, weeks, or months). Cross-docking is a velocity service where products typically move from inbound to outbound in 24 hours or less, often without ever being put away in a storage rack.
IS MY PRODUCT A GOOD FIT FOR CROSS-DOCKING?
Cross-docking is ideal for pre-sorted, pre-labeled goods that have a known, immediate destination. It’s perfect for high-velocity retail products, JIT manufacturing parts, and consolidated shipments.
