At Novo Logistics, we’re all about building things that are bigger than us to serve the greater good. While most of the time that looks like providing fast, reliable shipping and storage options to our nationwide network of client partners, sometimes it means picking up some tools and getting our hands dirty.
In October, two members from Novo leadership team got the chance to do just that at the Home Depot Foundation’s revamp of the Salvation Army Cathedral City and Veterans Village of Cathedral City, CA. Alongside over 400 other volunteers, we helped build shade structures, assemble outdoor furniture, plant gardens, create a food pantry, install donation shelving, and replace flooring as part of a $200,000 grant—all in service of our country’s veterans who live in the facilities located there.
Before the event, Major Neil Navarro, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army Cathedral City Dick and Beverly Davis Center with his wife, Major Rubina Navarro, spoke to the crowd saying: “It’s interesting because The Salvation Army’s slogan right now is ‘Doing the Most Good.’ And it’s fascinating to me that The Home Depot has a similar slogan. And that is, ‘How Doers Get More Done,’ and so, in essence, by doing the most good, we are getting more done.”
The Home Depot Foundation, a nonprofit division of The Home Depot (NYSE: HD), endeavors to enhance the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, provide aid to communities affected by natural disasters, and equip skilled tradespeople to bridge workforce gaps. Since 2011, the Foundation has contributed over $475 million to support veteran-related initiatives, resulting in the improvement of more than 55,000 veteran homes and facilities. By 2025, the Foundation aims to invest half a billion dollars in veteran causes and allocate $50 million towards training the next generation of skilled tradespeople via the Path to Pro program.
Novo Logistics is honored to have taken part in the Home Depot Society’s mission to improve the lives of our veterans. Whether it’s for our business partners or our community at large, Novo Logistics is always ready to help make life a little easier.
